The brainchild of Spanish designer Jorge Marti Vidal, Toyota MOB concept is a strikingly beautiful car with many of its parts taking inspiration from nature. The unusual bodywork is inspired by the idea of the Mobius strip and the shape of the somewhat bizarre looking five part wheels are inspired by the appearance of blooming flowers. Additionally, this car has green credentials as the main material used in the making of this vehicle is liquid wood, which makes Toyota MOB concept a green, recycled and recyclable vehicle. Adding more to Concept’s green factor is an all electric drivetrain, wherein all the wheels have individual motors to propel the car. Coming to its construction, the car is made of two panels that weave back and forth. The panels not only give this vehicle a perfect shape, but make up everything from the bodywork and chassis, to the seats and dashboard. The designer has envisioned an eco friendly and lightweight race car that makes environment feel happy.

The Toyota MOB concept is the work of Spanish designer Jorge Marti Vidal. The concept was developed during his final year of the Masters degree course in automotive design at the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia.
The Toyota MOB is a striking looking sports car which features unusual bodywork inspired by the idea of the Mobius strip. The car is made up of two continuos panels, which weave their way back and forth through the vehicle to create to create the structure as a whole. The two strips make up everything from the bodywork and chassis, to the seats and dashboard. The shape of the unusual five-part wheels was inspired by the appearance of blooming flowers.
 

The main material used in the construction of the Toyota MOB would be an organic material called "liquid wood". Basically it is formed using the waste product of lignin – which is left over during the manufacturing of paper. The lignin is then combined with wood fibers to form a composite material which is durable, recyclable and easily formed into complicated shapes.
To further improve the Toyota MOB’s eco-friendly credentials, the proposed drivetrain is all-electric – with each wheel getting its own dedicated motor.
Vidal envisaged the Toyota MOB as a environmentally responsible racing car, but it could just as easily act as a lightweight sports car. As such the car is fitted with a small cargo area for storing personal items.

Mazda has shocked the automotive world today by unveiling the stunning new Shinari four-door coupe concept car at an exclusive event in Milan, Italy. The latest concept is the result of a collaboration between Mazda’s design studios in Germany, the U.S. and Japan and previews the automaker’s future design language

A sleek concept car has introduced a new design theme for Japanese car maker Mazda.

Mazda has take the media by surprised with the unveiling of a new four-door coupe concept at a private press event held in Milan today. Named Shinari, the concept reveals the new front end design as well as the overall design language for all future Mazda vehicles.In similar fashion to the previous Nagare styling theme, Mazda has coined the term "Kodo" for the new styling paradigm.  In Japanese it means soul of motion.When asked when the new design language would start to appear on new models, Ikuo Maeda, general manager of Mazda Motor Corp.’s design division, vaguely stated, "this design will lead to the next generation of Mazda design and will lead to other elements."The Kodo design language was created in a joint effort between Mazda’s design studios in Japan, U.S. and Germany.The Shinari as a four-door coupe is a clear signal that Mazda is targeting the premium segment where similar vehicles such as the Aston Martin Rapide, Porsche Panamera and upcoming Fisker Karma already reside.  In order to do so Mazda officials ackowledged that interior quality levels must improve."We want to play in the same group as BMW and Audi," said Derek Jenkins, director of design for Mazda North America. "On fit and finish we want the same level of quality."

Mazda has revealed its future design direction with the sleek Shinari concept car. The coupe-like four-door embraces the new Kodo design theme, which replaces the Nagare look that has formed the basis for Mazda design for years. Kodo translates to "soul of motion", something Mazda designers are trying to capture with an athletic, low slung stance that melds distinctive creases with flowing character lines.Details of the Shinari are scarce, although it’s unlikely the large coupe forms the basis of a future model. The look appears to borrow design elements from Maserati and Jaguar at its bold nose while there are hints of Aston Martin in the sweeping silhouette. Mazda is trying to give a clear view of its future by revealing the new design theme and details of its new models.Last week the car maker revealed details of its new Sky range of engines and transmissions as well as information about a new platform that will underpin most of its future models. As with most other car makers, Mazda’s main focus is reducing fuel use and improving environmental performance. But instead of hybrid cars and electric vehicles, Mazda is focusing on making fuel-saving technology affordable to the masses by improving the efficiency of the regular petrol and diesel engine. Mazda has targeted fuel savings of 30 per cent by 2015 primarily by improving engine and transmission efficiency and reducing the weight of its vehicles.

Motivated by the response that his BMW X9 Concept  received on the net earlier this year, Tunisian designer Khalfi Oussama has come up with another car concept with a large front to pack a powerful system. Hailed as “BMW Flash,” the sports car can have any of the V8, V10 or V12 engines according to the power requirement of the rider. Inspired by the BMW M6, the sporty exterior of the concept vehicle is equally complemented by the rich and lustrous interior that promises to commute the rider in utmost comfort.

Alfa Romeo Essence concept is Sam Holgate’s design study of brand’s futuristic sportscar. By this project, Sam aims to redefine Alfa Romeo’s DNA through fabric inspired surfacing. Designed for the year 2035, the electric powered concept is an effort to show how a technical substructure could be clothed with a fluid sculpture. The sportscar, as per Sam, will be made from shape memory plastic and its flexible exterior layer is shaped by the air flowing over it.

With the memory plastic, the car can hold its shape for long periods of time, allowing you to see how dramatic movements create a unique sculptural form. Apart from this, the emotional aspect of Alfa Romeo is showcased by the driver focus and the kinetic form. The brand can use the final model to present their new form language by using a flowing contour sculpture to suggest the form of the vehicle’s wheels and under-body, clothed by the flexible exterior layer.

The concept features removable lithium ion battery pack that allows the user to charge a separate set of batteries while the vehicle is in use. Also, there is watch inspired dial that displays projected information and visually connecting seats that hang off central spine inspired from details of past Alfa Romeos’ drive by wire technology.

It seems like there is a new electric or alt-fuel sportscar coming out of Europe every week, each more exotic and exciting than the last. Very few electric sports car concepts captivate attention while still on the design board and fewer still transform into head turning street legal versions. Izaro Gte promises to fall into the latter category with its seductive looks.

Made from lightweight composites such as aluminum, magnesium and high strength steel, the car weighs only 1000 kg with an electric output of 495 hp. The car has a top aped of 280 km/h and makes a dash from 0-100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.

Created by Los Angeles-based Nondesign, CT Umbra is a pixilated presentation of Luxus’ new compact hybrid, dubbed the CT 200h. CT Umbra was part of the Lexus debate series tour called ‘Darker side of Green’, and the installation brings forth two of vehicle’s features – luxury and eco friendliness by changing colors from luxurious gold hues to organic tints of green and blue.

The sculpture is based on a map of vertical lines created from a CAD model of the CT 200h. It is built of 2500 anodized aluminum bars that are half inch thick and are cut to the exact measurement of the map. And to give the glow effect on the car sculpture, the tip of each bar is painted with yellow mica on one side and blue-green on the other.

This new electric car is built by students from the DeLaSalle School in Kansas City, Mo., in collaboration with engineers from Bridgestone Americas’ Technical Center in Akron, Ohio. The DeLaSalle electric car has just completed testing on Bridgestone’s Texas Proving Grounds and its developers believe it may have set a new world record for efficiency.

The DeLaSalle electric car was built as a class project under the supervision of instructor Steve Rees. The DeLaSalle electric car is a plug-in electric built on the chassis 2000 Lola Indy Car.

The students have developed the DeLaSalle electric car’s driveline, electric propulsion system and the full, ultra light-weight aerodynamic body. Dressed with Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 tires, the DeLaSalle electric car managed to get during testing an efficiency equivalent to a 300 mpg fuel consumption.

BMW will build its Gran Coupe concept car, the company’s development chief Klaus Draeger said. The production Gran Coupe will rival luxury coupe-styled four-door cars such as the Mercedes CLS, Audi’s upcoming A7 and the Porsche Panamera. Draeger said the production version will be positioned close to the BMW 6-series. It is still undecided whether the Gran Coupe will get hybrid drive, Draeger said. The Gran Coupe will launch in 2012, following the debut of the new two-door 6-series coupe next year.
