This will be a limited-production model called E "Superlight" in 2015 featuring the latest in automotive technology. A chassis constructed entirely from carbonfiber is not a novelty, but it’s not common either, being restricted to hypercars such as the Ferrari Enzo and only recently trickling down to supercars like the McLaren MP4-12C. Yet that’s exactly the material Merc plans to use for the E “Superlight”, shaving more than 350 kg (772 pounds) off the weight of a steel-bodied car. Super green and super fuel efficient car. Mercedes-Benz in develop with a new generation of aerodynamic trailer. In collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Commercial Vehicle Design department, they have managed to apply the same principles used in Mercedes-Benz Actros to bring wind resistance level down to 12 to 15 percent lower. The new Mercedes-Benz Aero Trailer front airdam reduces the distance to the tractor unit, thus lowering the wind resistance by one percent. By lowering the wind resistance level, Mercedes-Benz Aero Trailer provides great reduction in fuel consumption to almost 5 percent in real-life road traffic. Although the wind resistance level has been reduced, the fundamental load compartment design remains intact, the dimension remains unaffected. The only limitation would be the fact the this truck’s length measurement go over current permissible limit by almost half a meter. The objective of this design study is to show to the world that it is possible to further reduce the already low consumption and low CO2 emissions of state-of-the-art trucks.

BMW is coming to the Geneva Motor Show tech-loaded for bear and the Vision ConnectedDrive concept is the sleek, roadster-shaped weapon. The topless study is based on the production-bound BMW EfficientDynamics and serves as a platform to showcase the Bavarian automaker’s advanced driver assistance and mobility networking systems, demonstrating what is possible both now and in the future.

The drivetrain beneath the concept is purely electric. No specifications have been revealed yet, though it really only needs enough get-up-and-go to get up on the stage and get gone after what’s sure to be its enthusiastic presentation. The sexy package is just meant to grab your attention long enough for BMW to subliminally inform you how it will swath you in a safe and entertaining environment through technology that’s just a mind-meld short of miraculous. BMW is going to build a small, urban electric car – the Megacity – in a few years, but we’re pretty sure there are a lot of Bimmer drivers who won’t much care for that little thing, no matter what the powertrain. For them, BMW has announced a second treat today: the Vision Efficient Dynamics (VED) concept will indeed make the jump to production form.

We first saw the VED a little over a year ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009 and BMW says the concept was met with an “overwhelming response.” Little surprise, then, that BMW was interested in building this for the people – well, people who can afford the $200,000, give or take, the car will likely cost when it come to market in a few years. Since the VED contained a fair bit of “completely or virtually production-ready components,” BMW is confidently giving out media test drives at the Leipzig trade fair center of a road-ready technology showcase vehicle based on the VED.

Final production numbers won’t be known for a while, but the prototype features wing doors and a 2+2 seating arrangement. Underhood, a three-cylinder turbo diesel engine “with a hybrid synchronous motor at the front axle and a full-hybrid engine at the rear axle” put out a total of 241 kW/328 bhp and hits 0-100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) in just 4.8 seconds. The sleek car can do this while burning just 3.76 litters of fuel per 100 kilometers (a Toyota Prius-beating 62.5 miles per gallon U.S.) and emitting 99 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The production VED will also be a plug-in, with the ability to go 50 km (31 miles) on lithium-polymer battery power. Motivated by the response that his BMW X9 Concept  received on the net earlier this year, Tunisian designer Khalfi Oussama has come up with another car concept with a large front to pack a powerful system. Hailed as “BMW Flash,” the sports car can have any of the V8, V10 or V12 engines according to the power requirement of the rider. Inspired by the BMW M6, the sporty exterior of the concept vehicle is equally complemented by the rich and lustrous interior that promises to commute the rider in utmost comfort.
